Long-Rumored, Never-Before-Confirmed Bag Offers Cyclists a Mythical Balance of Capacity, Convenience, Refinement, and Price
Denver, CO, July 8, 2025 — For years, bike packers, randonneurs, picnicers, and century riders have sought the Stashquatch, a legendary beast of a bag with the features, capacity, and durability to carry all needed essentials for day-long rides. Long thought to inhabit the Colorado Front Range, where it cruised the pavement, double track, and trails in an endless game of hike-and-seek with those who sought it, the Stashquatch has never been available to cyclists… until now!

Denver-based bicycle bag company HandleStash is proud to announce that the legend is real: Stashquatch was located following a lengthy search that put seekers on e-cargo rigs, bike bikepacking bikes, tandems, and gravel bikes into the woods from Manitou Springs to Gold Hill to the Horsetooth Reservoir. After a successful search, this mystical bag has been domesticated and is on sale today, ready to make any ride more convenient and fun.
The Stashquatch turned out to have a 5.3-liter capacity, and several features that make it perfect for long rides on any kind of surface: external quick access pocket with magnetic Fidlock buckle, external stretch-mesh pockets, and internal pockets to contain and organize layers, tools, snacks, and other ride essentials. Made for life outdoors, Stashquatch has a semi-soft construction with closed-cell foam and a reinforcing HDPE plastic shell. Two species have been identified: one with a tough 600D Polyester, and another with a smooth EcoPak laminate that contains recycled fibers. The foam insulation allows Stashquatch to double as a handlebar cooler with room for an ice pack and a few beverages.
Stashquatch is a larger alternative to HandleStash’s popular Big Mouth Burrito Bag, and as the legend foretold, stands ready to relieve riders from their overstuffed burdens:
“We heard that the legendary Stashquatch had a deeper shape that was better for carrying more gear. So, we took to the woods and trails in search of this mythical design,” said HandleStash owner Adam Saplin. “We love our best-selling Burrito bags, but for bigger rides, you need a bigger bag, and Stashquatch is the perfect combination of features, style, and convenience. I’m so proud to bring this bag into the world in time for RAGBRAI, our favorite event of the year.”
Other Key Features:
- One-handed zipper access and opens away from the rider
- Easy access front pocket with Fidlock buckle
- Dual mesh side pockets for snacks, bottles, or gear
- Inner mesh and zipper pockets for tools, tech, and other small items
- Corner-mounted D-Rings for shoulder strap compatibility without side pocket interference
- Elastic zipper pulls
- Extra-long straps with low-profile cam buckles for clean handlebar attachment
So far, HandleStash has identified five distinct Stashquatch pelts: Black, Charcoal, and Burgundy in 600D Polyester ($125); and Black and Sky Blue in EcoPak recycled laminate ($135).

As our riders continue to comb the woods, we expect to find more colors and will make them available later in the year. Like all HandleStash products, the Stashquatch is native to Colorado and is available for purchase at HandleStash.com.
